Dancing

Last Saturday, we went to a dance in celebration of our friend Alex's birthday. This was the first time any of our family has been to a dance, but we all had a lot of fun!
Before we went we decided to grab a couple pictures while we were all dresses up.

This is Levi being..............Levi.

Before the dance we had a lovely dinner of BBQ. It was very good.
Logan eating a brownie.

This was the Scottish Polka. Unfortunately, we didn't get any pictures of the other dances.

Afternoon at the park

The weather has been so nice. I just love spring, don't you? But it was a little chilly last week. Last week was suppose to be are last frost. I'm glad of that. I'd be happy if it never frosts again. By Friday it had warmed back up so we spent the afternoon at the park with the niece and all the nephews.
Natasha doing..................I don't know what. :)
Garrett loves stroller rides.
This is how Allen does the monkey bars.
Rachel and Titus
Elise helping Garrett ride the seesaw with Natasha.

This is how big boys play on the play ground. The climb up to the top of things where they aren't suppose to go. :D
There are lots of options when playing on a play ground. Every thing has it's use. The rocks are meant for covering Garrett.

The Adventures of a Specialized Carrier Truck Driver

Dad was on his way home from a long trucking trip and he called to say that he had just passed the place where he normally parks his big trailer, and it was full of other trailers. So he had to bring the trailer to our place, turn it around in one of the fields, and park it along side the driveway.
For the past week or two it has been raining. A lot. So when he went to turn around in the fields, he got stuck. Very stuck. His wheels just sunk into the soft ground and he couldn't move. So, the truck and trailer was left out in the field until Saturday.
Saturday morning dad, Jordon, and Levi, (Boaz went along to watch and I went to take these picture,) took the Chevy truck and the tractor out there to pull the big truck and trailer out.

The big truck.

Stuck

Levi
Hooking the chains up.
Try number one. They tried to pull it out backwards because they thought that this would be there best chance. They have the tractor and 'little' truck hooked up to the back of the trailer. It didn't work. They barely budged the big truck and trailer.
Try number two. They tried to pull it forward. That also didn't work.

Try number three.
This picture is so you can see the size difference in the trucks. I always thought that our Chevy truck was fairly big. But you have no idea just how big Semi trucks are until you stand beside one. This truck is huge! But believe it or not, the trailer is heavier then the truck.
Try number three didn't work either.

Try number four. And it didn't work either.
SOOOOO, we called our good neighbor. He works on tractors and always has a few big ones around. Maybe he had something to help us out this time.
How about a big four wheel drive tractor?
Try number five. And it.........worked!
I want that tractor!

Tribute to a Patriarch

Wednesday, January 19, my Father-in-Law passed away, being 85 years of age.

He was the last living parent of both Tim and I.

Tim’s mother passed away in April of 2007 (at the age of 82).

My parents passed away in 1988 (Mom, at the age of 55) and 1995 (Dad, 70 yrs old).

It’s a strange thing to ponder, the death of one’s own parents and the fact that all four of our parents are gone. I’m sure some of you have gone through it.

But my father-in-law was a Christian. He believed in the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior and is now with his Savior.

He loved Jesus Christ with all his heart.

He taught the Word of God in Bible study classes.

In my first few years as a new believer (30 years ago), I learned a lot through his teaching. The Lord really used that teaching to jumpstart me into spiritual growth.

My father-in-law raised 4 children, one of those being my husband.

He taught my husband, who I love very much, the Christian faith, discipline, and to love his wife (and to see nothing but the good in her), for which I am very grateful.

That Godly patriarch left behind 4 children, 16 grandchildren (half of those come from Tim and I), and 14 great grandchildren (3 from our son) with 3 more great grandchildren on the way (1 from our daughter).

He also left a few material goods behind, but those, of course, are not important.

What’s important is, and I believe he would agree, is the legacy of the family he left on this earth to not only carry on the Draper name, but to carry on the name of Jesus Christ, the King of Kings, Lord of Lords, the Creator of all things, who is God in the flesh, who died for the sins of HIS people.

THAT’S A LEGACY!!! The way it’s suppose to be.

We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. [2 Cor. 5:8]

Jesus said, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

And whosever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. [John 11:25,26]

Dinner Conversations

When our family sits down to a meal together, we can have quite the conversation. It usually gets comical. One thing leads to another to where we wonder how we got on a certain topic. But maybe if I write it down here, you can see how that can happen.

Dinner Conversation:

Boaz: “I wish I would of remembered to put hot sauce on my toast.”

Mom: “On your honey toast?”

Boaz: "Yeah.”

Levi: “Oh yeah, you want to dip it in red bull too? So and So (to protect the guilty) pours red bull in his coffee.”

Johanna: “Well So and So (again, to protect the guilty) also thinks eating 10 hotdogs is a good supper.” (Johanna is not a fan of hotdogs)

Levi: “Or you could dip it all in Pepsi.” “Mom, he’s being gross.” (mimicking the movie, Martian Child where the “martian” child pours Pepsi on his food.)

Jordon: “Putting coffee and Red Bull together would make me sick.”

Levi: “So would the gift that Shrek gave Fiona. The box with grubs and worms in it.” (in reference to the movie, Shrek Forever After)

Dad (Tim): “We use to dissect worms and frogs in biology class in school. But I guess that wouldn’t fly with Peta, the animal rights activists.”

And now the kicker:

Johanna: "Yeah, but if they use little unborn baby worms, they wouldn't really be worms, would they?"

Thanksgiving Week

Elise and Gabriel drove up for Thanksgiving. They got here on Sunday morning (early) and stayed through Thursday.
Two expecting mothers. Rachel's due date is December 17 and Elise is due the first week of June.

Our neighbor gave Jordon an ATV because something was wrong with it. He fixed it up and we all got to ride it.
Even Gabriel. Dad rode too, but I don't have a good picture.
Abigail checking it out.
Jordon speeding.
Boaz has a lot of fun with it.
