Memphis Zoo

Wednesday we went to the Memphis Zoo with T.J. and Rachel.
We left at about 7:30 and it was about a two and a half hour drive and we spent the whole day there and ate at pizza hut on the way home. Yum!
It was a lot of fun except it got kind of hot out.
Here are the lions.

Doesn't he look so excited?

I guess the ocelot didn't want us to see it.

Allen's Birthday

Sunday was Allen's birthday but we celebrated it at the park on Saturday.
He looks kind of wet but that's because he's actually sweaty from playing. I think he had fun.
He turned three. Wow! Time went by fast!

Waiting to eat his cake.
Allen loves trains so Elise made this cake for him.

Unwrapping presents.

Wow! It's Thomas the Train.

Trying on the apron Mommy made for him.

Elise and Gabriel

On August 5th, Gabriel New asked Elise to marry him. They are officially engaged to be married.
Gabriel is from Texas, which is where the newly married couple will reside. We are scurrying around to make wedding preparations, since the wedding date is NOVEMBER 7, 2009. It seems that to get a decent wedding gown (the Draper ladies are not experienced enough seamstresses to attempt to make one.), It has to be ordered well in advance. As it is we had to pay extra shipping to get this one here in time to make probable alterations. We do plan, with the help of friends, to make the bridesmaids' dresses and probably the flower girls' dresses. Also to reserve a church for the event needs to be done well in advance. Ah...so much to do, so little time. What is it that the scriptures say about Martha? But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her. Luke 10:38-42 Anyway, we are all excited about the wedding and we are also excited to have Gabriel as part of our family.

Rachel's birthday

Tuesday the 4th was Rachel's birthday. We got to watch Allen that day so that T.J. could take Rachel out and then they came over for desert.

The pretty cake Elise made.
